Assistant Chief Engineer – Commercial Full Time

Leading Real Estate/Development firm is currently seeking to bring in an Assistant Chief Engineer to join our busy team. The successful candidate will support the Chief Building Engineer by focusing on improvements in operational practices and procedures (training, organizational practices, and special projects).

Requirements:

• A Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Professional Engineer Designation
• A Six Sigma, TPM or Lean background; examples of application and results preferred (preferable skill set at the level of a Green or Black Belt)
• Experience leading and developing high-achieving teams
• 10 years of hands-on commercial and mixed-use building maintenance experience
• In-depth knowledge of all building services, i.e. electrical, mechanical, fire, etc.
• In-depth knowledge of occupational hazards and standard precautions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Team leadership and team membership skills
• Personal presentation/professionalism, Communication (verbal, written, listening, presentation), and Customer service
• Experience working in inclement weather conditions; travel from site to site; some exposure to dust and noise; some heavy lifting, standing, climbing; may work at heights.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and coaching for technicians to maximize positive work outcomes and time efficiency on day-to-day maintenance and repairs, as well as on small projects
• Drive Continuous Improvement and Productivity Savings Projects, and provide project updates to the leadership team and project stakeholders
• Follow up on programs to maintain performance improvements and provide team training, tools and equipment needed to ensure desired performance
• Assist operations managers with personnel development plans and performance evaluations
• Evaluate system efficiencies or deficiencies, identify opportunities and provide services to correct them
• Utilize and ensure that safety and security equipment, requirements, and precautions related to all areas and work performed are followed by the technician staff.
